Mountain Biking Community

Community

Mountain biking is all about the community. Mountain bikers are a group of layed back people that just enjoy life an love being outdoors. I often see great friendships for from mountain biking together. Personally, I have met some of my favorite people while biking. There are group rides all over the place, creating a great way for people to come together and have fun.

Watching a UCI Downhill World Cup Event

My Experience with UCI

When we realized that a UCI World Cup race was in Mont Sainte-Anne, my father and I knew we had to go. We headed up to Canada and found a hotel to stay the night in. The next day, we got up out of bed and went to the mountain that the race was being held on.
At the race, there were many proffessional racers that I had been watching for a while. People like Aaron Gwin and Rat Boy were there. I even met Loic Bruni in the hotel that I was staying in! We rode the lift together!
When watching the race, my family and I marveled at the talent of these men. They could do amazing things on a bike. It was a muddy and rainy day, but that made the race interesting. Aaron Gwin came back with an amazing win on that day that will go down in history for the greatest win against all odds in UCI history. I am glad that I was a part of that experience.

How I Got Into Mountain Biking

How I Started Mountain Biking

My father is a big biker. He has been for years, before I was even born. My whole life, I rejected him every time he asked me if I wanted to go mountain bike with him. I was just not interested in the slightest.
One day, I finally said yes. So we loaded up the car with my mother's old and overall bad bike and headed to the trails. I hated that bike. It was not fun at all and felt like something that I would never like. Then, the next event changed my mind. My dad saw that I did not like it, so he rented a rental bike. This made a huge difference. I was coming off of a horrible bike and onto a nice bike that was meant for a child like I was at the time. As soon as I got on, my mind changed about mountain biking. I started to love it.
After this, we bought the rental bike and started biking more and more. Over time, we went to downhill parks like Highland Mountain Bike Park. This is now one of my favorite places. I am a biker all thanks to that one day.
